BEI ZA MAFUTA SEPTEMBA ZASHUKA NCHINI

 

Mamlaka ya Udhibiti wa Huduma za Nishati na Maji (EWURA) imetangaza kushuka kwa bei za bidhaa za mafuta kwa mwezi Septemba 2026. Bei ya petroli imeshuka kwa Shilingi 102 kwa lita, huku bei ya dizeli ikishuka kwa Shilingi 101 kwa lita. Bei hizo zitaanza kutumika kuanzia tarehe 2 Septemba 2026, saa 6:01 usiku.

EWURA inaendelea kufuatilia kwa karibu mwenendo wa bei za mafuta katika soko la dunia, ambapo mabadiliko ya bei yanaendelea kuathiriwa pamoja na mambo mengine na hali ya kiusalama katika eneo la Mashariki ya Kati.

Kwa mujibu wa Sheria ya Mafuta ya Mwaka 2015, bei za mafuta zinaendelea kupangwa kwa kuzingatia mfumo wa soko. Wafanyabiashara wote wa rejareja wanatakiwa kuuza mafuta kwa bei zisizozidi bei elekezi, na wananchi wanashauriwa kutoa taarifa EWURA kwa kituo chochote cha mafuta kitakachouza zaidi ya bei elekezi.

MHE. SALOME: WIZARA YA NISHATI INA WAJIBU WA KUHAKIKISHA WANANCHI WANAPATA UMEME WA UHAKIKA

Naibu Waziri wa Nishati, Mhe. Salome Makamba, amesema jukumu kuu la Wizara ya Nishati ni kuhakikisha wananchi wanapata umeme wa uhakika na wanapatiwa taarifa kwa wakati pindi changamoto zinapojitokeza.

Mhe. Makamba ameyasema hayo leo, tarehe 01 Septemba 2026, wakati akijibu Swali lanMhe. Exaud Silaoneka Kigahe, Mbunge wa Jimbo la Mufindi Kaskazini, aliyetaka kufahamu lini Serikali itabadilisha mkataba wa usambazaji wa umeme kwa wananchi kutoka Mwenga Power kwenda TANESCO, ili Mwenga Power ibaki kuwa mzalishaji wa umeme.

Akijibu swali hilo, Mhe. Makamba amesema utoaji na usimamizi wa leseni za uzalishaji na usambazaji wa umeme nchini ni jukumu la kisheria la Mamlaka ya Udhibiti wa Nishati na Maji (EWURA), kwa mujibu wa Sheria ya Umeme ya mwaka 2008 na taratibu za utoaji wa leseni hizo.

“Jukumu namba moja la Wizara ya Nishati ni kuhakikisha wananchi wanapata umeme wa uhakika na wanapata taarifa kwa wakati kunapotokea changamoto,” amesema Mhe. Makamba.

Ameeleza kuwa uamuzi wowote wa kubadili muundo wa leseni ya usambazaji umeme katika eneo hilo unapaswa kuzingatia matakwa ya sheria na taratibu zilizowekwa.

Hata hivyo, Mhe. Makamba amesema Serikali, kwa kutambua kuwa kumekuwa na malalamiko kuhusu ubora wa huduma inayotolewa na Mwenga Power, tayari taasisi zake za EWURA, TANESCO na REA zimeanza kufanya tathmini ya kina ili kubaini uwezekano wa kufanya mabadiliko hayo bila kuathiri uwekezaji uliopo.

Amesema tathmini hiyo itafanyika kwa haraka ili kuhakikisha wananchi wanapata huduma ya umeme yenye uhakika na inayokidhi mahitaji yao.

Aidha, akihitimisha, Mhe. Makamba amesema yupo tayari, pindi Vikao vya Bunge vitakapokamilika, kuongozana na Mhe. Exaud Silaoneka Kigahe, Mbunge wa Jimbo la Mufindi Kaskazini, kwenda kusikiliza na kufahamu kwa kina changamoto zinazowakabili wananchi katika eneo hilo.

WATUMISHI WA ELIMU WATAKIWA KUONGEZA TIJA KAZINI

Katibu Mkuu wa Wizara ya Elimu, Sayansi na Teknolojia, Prof. Carolyne Nombo, amewapongeza watumishi wa wizara hiyo kwa kazi kubwa na mafanikio waliyoyapata katika mwaka wa fedha uliopita, huku akiwataka kuendelea kuyasema kwa ujasiri mafanikio hayo yaliyoiwezesha sekta ya elimu kung’aa kitaifa na kimataifa.

Prof. Nombo amesema mafanikio hayo yametokana na uongozi imara wa Waziri wa Elimu, Sayansi na Teknolojia, Prof. Adolf Mkenda, na Naibu Waziri, Mhe. Wanu Hafidh Ameir, pamoja na ushirikiano wa Wakurugenzi, Wakuu wa Idara na watumishi wote.

Prof. Nombo amesema hayo Septemba 1, 2026 jijini Dodoma wakati alipoongoza kikao cha tafakuri cha uongozi na watumishi wa Wizara ya Elimu, Sayansi na Teknolojia, kilicholenga kutathmini utekelezaji wa majukumu yaliyokabidhiwa kwa wizara. Amewashukuru watumishi kwa utekelezaji mzuri wa majukumu yao na kusisitiza umuhimu wa kuendeleza ushirikiano katika kufikia malengo ya wizara.

Aidha, Prof. Nombo amesema mabadiliko makubwa yanayoendelea katika sekta ya elimu yanatokana na utekelezaji wa sera mpya ya elimu, ambayo inalenga kuandaa wahitimu wenye ujuzi, kuboresha matokeo ya kujifunza na kuimarisha mfumo mzima wa elimu nchini. Amesisitiza kuwa Serikali ya Awamu ya Sita, chini ya uongozi wa Rais Dkt. Samia Suluhu Hassan, imewekeza kwa kiwango kikubwa katika sekta ya elimu kupitia ujenzi wa miundombinu, ajira za walimu, mafunzo ya watumishi na fursa mbalimbali za kitaaluma.

Katika kikao hicho, Katibu Mkuu amekumbusha wajibu mkubwa wa Wizara katika utekelezaji wa Dira ya Taifa ya Maendeleo 2050, akieleza kuwa takribani asilimia 40 ya masuala yaliyomo kwenye dira hiyo yanahusu sekta ya elimu, sayansi, teknolojia na ubunifu. Ameongeza kuwa utekelezaji wa elimu ya lazima kwa miaka 10 na maandalizi ya kupokea kundi la wanafunzi la double cohort mwaka 2028 ni miongoni mwa majukumu makubwa yanayohitaji maandalizi ya mapema na ushirikiano wa pamoja.

Kwa upande wake, Naibu Katibu Mkuu wa Wizara ya Elimu, Sayansi na Teknolojia, Prof. Daniel Mushi, amewataka watumishi kuendelea kufanya kazi kwa ushirikiano, weledi, nidhamu na uadilifu, akisema misingi hiyo ni muhimu katika kuimarisha utendaji kazini. Prof. Mushi amesema hayo Septemba 1, 2026 jijini Dodoma wakati akifunga kikao cha tafakuri cha watumishi wa wizara hiyo.

Amesema mafanikio ya wizara yanatokana na mchango wa kila mtumishi, hivyo kuna umuhimu wa kuongeza ubunifu katika utendaji huku sheria, kanuni, taratibu na miongozo ya utumishi wa umma ikizingatiwa. Pia amesisitiza umuhimu wa kuzingatia usalama wa taarifa za Serikali na kuhakikisha wananchi wanahudumiwa kwa furaha, ufanisi na weledi, huku akiwataka watumishi kutumia mafunzo waliyopata kuongeza tija na kuhamasisha utamaduni wa kuendelea kujifunza katika kila ngazi ya utumishi.

Naye, Mkurugenzi wa Idara ya Utawala na Rasilimali Watu katika Wizara ya Elimu, Sayansi na Teknolojia, Dkt. Edith Rwiza, amesema kikao cha uongozi na watumishi kimetoa fursa ya kutafakari kwa pamoja, kujenga mshikamano na kubadilishana uzoefu kwa lengo la kuimarisha utendaji kazi.

Amesema kikao hicho pia kililenga kutafakari mafanikio, changamoto na mafunzo yaliyopatikana katika utekelezaji wa mipango na majukumu ya wizara katika mwaka uliopita.

Dkt. Rwiza amesema kikao hicho kimewapa watumishi nafasi ya kujitathmini kwa kuzingatia uhalisia wa utendaji kazi na kujadili namna bora ya kuhakikisha malengo ya wizara yanafikiwa kwa ufanisi.

Ameongeza kuwa washiriki wamepata fursa ya kutazama kwa pamoja changamoto za rasilimali na kubaini namna ya kuongeza ufanisi ili kupata matokeov makubwa zaidi kwa kutumia rasilimali zilizopo, huku wakielekezwa kuimarisha mshikamano na uwajibikaji katika kutekeleza majukumu yao.

ICT TRANSFORMING EDUCATION IN AFRICA PROJECT: BUILDING A DIGITALLY CAPABLE TEACHING WORKFORCE

The ICT Transforming Education in Africa – Phase III Project is designed to go beyond providing teachers with basic digital skills by building a sustainable culture of technology-enabled teaching and continuous professional development, Project Coordinator Gabriela Lucas has said.

Ms Lucas, who coordinates the project at UNESCO, said the KFIT-supported initiative was focused on strengthening teachers’ ability to use ICT purposefully to improve teaching and learning while ensuring that the skills acquired could continue to benefit other educators and learners beyond the training period.

“UNESCO aspires to see every teacher able to use ICT for learning and teaching,” she said.

She explained that the project uses the ICT Competency Standards for Teachers in Tanzania (ICT-CSTT) as a structured framework for helping teachers progressively develop their digital competencies according to their existing levels of knowledge and skills.

The framework comprises 15 modules, with the Arusha training focusing on the Beginner and Intermediate levels, covering 10 modules, while participants are also being introduced to five modules under the Advanced level.

Ms Lucas said the training covers practical areas including ICT integration in teaching and assessment, digital learning platforms, Open Educational Resources (OER), online information-search skills, digital content development and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education.

She stressed that the objective was not simply to teach teachers how to use digital devices, but to enable them to integrate technology effectively into classroom practice, develop relevant learning resources and create more engaging learning experiences for students.

Ms Lucas said the project had adopted a cascade training model, whereby teachers who receive specialised training are expected to share their knowledge and skills with colleagues in their respective schools.

“This approach enables us to reach more teachers and expand the impact of the training beyond those participating directly in the programme,” she said.

She explained that the approach would allow trained teachers to become multipliers of digital knowledge, helping to extend the benefits of the programme from individual participants to entire schools and, ultimately, to more learners.

The Arusha training follows a similar programme conducted in Morogoro, while the wider project is being implemented in Tanzania, Namibia and Uganda.

Ms Lucas said the project was also leveraging existing Government digital systems to ensure that teacher professional development continued beyond face-to-face training.

Through the TIE Teachers Continuous Professional Development Learning Management System (TCPD LMS), linked to the Government’s MEWAKA system, teachers can access learning materials and continue strengthening their professional skills.

She said continuous professional development was increasingly important as digital technologies, including AI, continued to change the way teaching and learning were conducted.

Ms Lucas said the long-term ambition of the project was to contribute to a digitally capable teaching workforce in which teachers could confidently use technology, support their colleagues, develop relevant educational content and prepare learners with the knowledge and competencies required for an increasingly technology-driven society and economy.

She said investing in teachers’ digital capacity was therefore an investment in the future of education and in the human capital needed to drive sustainable development in Africa.

TAMISEMI STRENGTHENS TEACHERS’ DIGITAL SKILLS IN ARUSHA

ARUSHA: The President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG) is strengthening the digital capacity of government secondary school teachers in Arusha City and Arusha District councils through a four-day ICT training programme aimed at improving the use of technology in teaching and learning.

The training, involving government secondary school teachers, is being conducted in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and the Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) at Gold Crest Hotel in Arusha from September 1 to 4, 2026.

The programme is being implemented under the ICT Transforming Education in Africa – Phase III Project, supported through the Korean Funds-in-Trust (KFIT), and seeks to equip teachers with practical digital skills to effectively integrate Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into teaching, learning and assessment.

Speaking during the opening of the training, Assistant Director of Education at PO-RALG, Melchiory Baltazary, said the Government was committed to strengthening teachers’ capacity to use ICT effectively as part of efforts to improve the quality of education.

He said the collaboration between the Government, UNESCO and TIE was providing teachers with practical skills that could be applied directly in teaching, learning and assessment.

Mr Baltazary said strengthening teachers’ digital competencies was important in ensuring that the Government’s efforts to expand the use of technology in education translated into meaningful improvements in classroom practice.

He urged the participating teachers to make effective use of the knowledge and skills acquired during the training and share them with colleagues who had not attended the programme.

He said the cascade training approach, whereby trained teachers share their knowledge and skills with colleagues, would enable the benefits of the programme to reach more educators in their respective schools and councils.

Mr Baltazary also encouraged teachers to continue using available Government digital learning systems and resources to strengthen their professional competencies beyond the face-to-face training.

The training is aligned with the ICT Competency Standards for Teachers in Tanzania (ICT-CSTT), which provide a framework for developing teachers’ competencies in the effective integration of ICT into teaching and learning.

Speaking at the same event, Head of the Education Sector at the UNESCO Dar es Salaam Office, Dr Faith Shayo, said strengthening teachers’ digital competencies was essential to ensuring that Tanzania’s education system kept pace with rapid technological developments.

Dr Shayo urged the participating teachers to make full use of the training and share the knowledge and skills acquired with their colleagues after returning to their respective schools.

“We expect you to share what you learn here with your fellow teachers so that they can also keep pace with these transformations in education,” she said.

She said teachers were at the centre of education transformation because they were directly responsible for translating technological developments and innovations into meaningful classroom practice.

Dr Shayo added that technology should be used to improve the quality of teaching and learning, expand access to knowledge and equip learners with skills relevant to the 21st century.

Arusha Regional Academic Officer, Oscar Kapinga, said effective use of technology could simplify teaching and learning while expanding students’ access to knowledge and educational resources.

He urged teachers to ensure that ICT was applied in ways that directly contributed to improved learning outcomes.

The training covers key areas of digital competency, including digital learning tools and platforms, ICT integration in teaching and assessment, Open Educational Resources (OER), online information-search skills and the use of technology in curriculum implementation.

Participants are also being trained in interactive teaching approaches, management of school records and information, development of digital learning resources, production of audio-visual educational content and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education.

The teachers are using the TIE Teachers Continuous Professional Development Learning Management System (TCPD LMS), linked to the Government’s MEWAKA system, to access training materials and undertake various learning modules.

Explaining the implementation of the project, Gabriela Lucas from UNESCO’s Education Sector, said the KFIT-supported programme was aimed at strengthening teachers’ ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning while making use of existing Government systems to support continuous professional development.

She said teachers were central to the project because they played a direct role in integrating technology into everyday classroom practices.

“UNESCO aspires to see every teacher able to use ICT for learning and teaching,” she said.

Ms Lucas said the ICT-CSTT framework comprised different competency levels designed to enable teachers to progressively develop their digital skills according to their existing levels of competence.

She said the framework comprised 15 modules, with the Arusha training focusing on the Beginner and Intermediate levels, covering 10 modules, while also introducing participants to five modules under the Advanced level.

She explained that the project adopted a cascade training model, whereby teachers who receive the training are expected to share their knowledge and skills with other teachers in their respective schools.

“We have already conducted the training in Morogoro, and now we are in Arusha,” she said.

Ms Lucas said the project was being implemented in Tanzania, Namibia and Uganda, with UNESCO seeking to strengthen teachers’ capacity to use ICT effectively in modern education environments.

She said digital learning systems also provided teachers with opportunities for continuous professional development by enabling them to access learning materials and acquire new skills beyond face-to-face training sessions.

The training is also being supported by TIE. One of the facilitators, Watson Mtewele, said the modules used during the training were accessible through the teachers’ continuous professional development system known as MEWAKA.

He said the system enabled teachers to continue learning and strengthening their professional skills even after completing the face-to-face training.

The 64 teachers from Arusha City and Arusha District councils are expected to return to their respective schools and support other teachers in using digital tools and platforms, developing educational content and applying technology in teaching, learning and assessment.

The initiative is designed to create a wider network of digitally competent teachers through the sharing and transfer of knowledge and skills among educators, ultimately benefiting learners.

The programme also complements the efforts of the Sixth Phase Government under the leadership of President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan to strengthen the use of ICT in education and develop a skilled and knowledgeable workforce capable of responding to the demands of the 21st century.

It is also aligned with the aspirations of Tanzania Development Vision 2050, which places emphasis on developing a knowledgeable, skilled and technologically capable population to drive national development.

The initiative therefore goes beyond enabling teachers to use digital devices and platforms. It is part of broader efforts to prepare teachers to equip learners with the knowledge, skills and competencies required to participate effectively in an increasingly technology-driven society and economy.

The four-day training continues at Gold Crest Hotel in Arusha and is scheduled to conclude on September 4, 2026.
