The CECAFA Congress convening here at Four Point Hotel in Nairobi City this Saturday December 2nd 2017 has elected the five new Executive Committee members to run the region’s top football office for the next two calendar years.
The five who have been unanimously elected will now join
CECAFA President Eng. Mutasim Gafar (Sudan) whose constitutional term runs till
November 2019. These include Abdiqaani Arab Said (Somalia), Aimable Habimana
(Burundi), Juneid Basha Tilmo (Ethiopia), Wallace Karia (Tanzania) and Doris
Petra a woman representative hailing from Kenya.
The race that had earlier attracted eight candidates had Eng.
Moses Magogo (Uganda), Vincent Nzamwita (Rwanda) and Kourecha Ali Gued from
Djibouti withdrawing their candidature just minutes before the polls.
CECAFA COMPETITIONS:
The Congress emphasized the need to have annual tournaments
and the following member federations have offered to host the 2018 events as

This year’s delayed CECAFA WomenCup will still take place in
Rwanda early next year. The hosts for the Senior Challenge Cup 2018 will be
decided at a later date. Ten out of
twelve countries participated except Sudan and Eritrea.
